On behalf of the University of the Sunshine Coast, we would like to invite you to participate in our research study titled “Evaluating Incident Prevention Methods in Led Outdoor Activities”. The study aims to test different methods for developing Led Outdoor Activity (LOA) safety interventions. We invite yourself, and staff within your organisation who are involved in safety management, program design, and/or the development of safety interventions within organisations that deliver LOA.
The aim of the study is to evaluate three different methods for developing safety interventions in the LOA sector. So that we do not influence the study outcomes, we cannot share the methods that will be used. To participate, you will need to advise your availability for three consecutive days, but you will only be required to attend one half or full day workshop in either Melbourne, Victoria or Brisbane, Queensland. You will be advised which day you will be required to attend well in advance. The following table provides the information for the study timelines.
Day 1 – Half Day 1pm to 4pm | Day 2 – Full Day 9am to 4pm | Day 3 – Full Day 9am to 4pm |
Morning: No Training | Morning: Method training | Morning: Method training |
Afternoon: Development of safety strategies | Afternoon: Development of safety strategies | Afternoon: Development of safety strategies |
April 28 to 30, 2021 – University of the Sunshine Coast’s Moreton Bay Campus, Queensland
May 12 to 14, 2021 – Burwood East, Victoria
The full day workshops will include training in state-of-the-art methods for developing injury intervention strategies. The half day group (conducted on day 1) will not receive any training, but participants will be invited to attend one of the training sessions on day 2 or 3. You will be notified at the end day 1, what methods will be used on day 2 and 3, so you can choose which training to attend.
Benefits of participating
If you participate in the study, you will receive:
- Free training in a state-of-the-art method for developing incident prevention strategies.
- You and your organisation will receive a certificate acknowledging your contribution to safety research in the Led Outdoor Activity sector.
